Quite an insightful encouragement to expand one's view on being innovative, Linda!

I feel it could be beneficial to incorporate "me everything" consumer attitude with "looking sideways" approach in an effort to get consumers' ideas on making decisions regarding new products or services. By actively engaging the consumer in the brainstorming process, a company could benefit in numerous ways. Taking this a step further, imagine the benefits of engaging the consumer in a positive grass-roots campaign. (Some) companies could be encouraged to be socially responsible and proactive...with significant ROI-s. As mentioned in your article "Enter the Marketing Meatrix," the audience is hungry for real knowledge, real connection and real voice. I agree.
